Future Plans
“To be the world’s premier resource company by delivering superior quality products, employing the best of technology and most competitive family of human resources”

Gujarat NRE Coke is a vertically integrated global resource company, engaged in fuelling India’s growth dreams. The company has emerged as one of the fastest growing manufacturers of low ash metallurgical coke and coal mining company over the years. A well structured planning process and a timely capacity expansion initiative to keep up with current and projected demand has been the key to achieving organizational growth. In this regard, GNCL has envisaged the following fast forward path:

  • Streamlining of production process

  • Increase stamp charging capacity

  • Expanding met coke making capacity in India from current level of 1.25 MTPA to around 4 MTPA in 4 years by way of Greenfield/Brownfield expansions in Andhra Pradesh/Gujarat/Karnataka

  • Setting up a captive jetty at Belikeri Port in Karnataka for facilitating coal imports from Australia

  • Developing a railway siding in Dharwad for faster and cheaper movement of goods to and from the plant

  • Investment in captive power projects, using wind, as well as waste heat emanating from the coke making process, to generate electricity

  • Setting up waste heat power plants at all existing coke making facilities. Power generation capacity through waste heat recovery expected to reach to around 240 MW

  • In Australia, mine development to exploit the hard coking coal resources from both the coal mine leases, so as to reach a ROM coal production of around 6 MTPA by 2013/14
