Mr Arun Kumar Jagatramka, Chairman and Managing Director

Mr Arun Kumar Jagatramka is the Chairman and Managing Director of Gujarat NRE group of companies, one of India’s largest independent producers of metallurgical coke. A Chartered Accountant with an all India 1st rank and gold medal; he is a visionary of the rarest kind.

Under his able guidance, Gujarat NRE has emerged as a vertically integrated global resource company with a rich intellectual capital and a focused management. With production capacity of around 1.5 million tonnes per annum, Mr. Jagatramka has created a company which is strongly focused on growth and creating wealth. GNCL takes great pride in the three large-scale and top of the line coke-making facilities it owns in India—within Khambhalia and Bhachau, Gujarat, and Dharwad, Karnataka. The company also boasts a mini steel mill in Bhachau, Gujarat that produces TMT bars using green wind energy.

Mr Arun Kumar Jagatramka is a member of the India–Australia CEO’s forum as well as a member of India–Japan Business Leaders Forum from the Indian side nominated by The Honourable Prime Minister of India. Mr Jagatramka has earlier served as the Honorary NSW ‘Sydney Ambassador’ to India, appointed by the Government of New South Wales, Australia. He is currently the Chairman of ASSOCHAM National Council on Ease of Doing Business.

He takes keen interest in building a close India–Australia relationship and is a strong advocate for strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries. Under his able guidance, Gujarat NRE was one of the first Indian companies to invest in the mining industry in Australia. Gujarat NRE was the first Indian company to hold and manage two prime coking-coal mines in Australia. He was conferred “Person of the Year 2009” title by Illawarra Mercury, a leading Australian publication. He is the Chairman of the ASSOCHAM India–Australia Business Promotion Council.

He is also an active member of prominent industry associations like CII, ASSOCHAM and is a sought-after speaker in various national and international platforms on a wide range of subjects like economy and industry, steel, coking coal and met coke as well as on ethics and integrity.

Mrs Mona Jagatramka, Director

Mrs Mona Jagatramka has over a decade of experience in management and administrative affairs. She is a Graduate in Home Science. She is actively associated in the management of the businesses and looks after the human resources and support managerial services of Gujarat NRE Group.

Mr Sisir Kumar Mukherjee, Director

Mr Sisir Kumar Mukherjee a retired Chief General Manager of State Bank of India Ahmedabad Circle is a man of extensive experience in banking industry at various levels. A humanitarian by nature, Mr Mukherjee is closely associated with an NGO named Speech & Hearing Action Society (SAHAS) based in Durgapur dedicated to train born - deaf children to speak like you and me, and attend normal schools and colleges and pursue their studies with their hearing peers on equal footing.

Mr S Murari, Director

Mr S Murari, is a B.E (Mechanical) passed in 1st class in 1965. He has a vast experience in the iron and steel industry, having worked in Durgapur Steel Plant (from 1965 to 1973), ACC Vicekers Babcock Ltd, Durgapur (from 1973 to 1978) and Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited (from 1978). Mr Murari was promoted from Asst. General Manager (Production) to Director (Production & Projects) in 1995 and further to Director–in-charge in 1997 at KIOCL. Further, in 1997 he took over as Chairman and Managing Director of Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited. He has also served as a director of Coal India Ltd. He has undergone extensive training programmes in management, orientation, planning, maintenance management, mineral resources exploration, through various management programmes in India, USA, Canada and Australia.

Mr Amit Kumar Majumdar, Director

Mr Amit Kumar Majumdar, a reputed metallurgist from the BHU, is a veteran in the operations and management of large enterprises, specifically the Indian steel industry. He has worked with Steel Authority of India Ltd. ( SAIL) for 30 years, across 3 of its plants & its corporate office – moving up to the Chief Executive of Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Co. Ltd.( VISL ), Bhadravati, Karanataka, that witnessed a turnaround under his able leadership.

He has been associated with the industrial house of Dempo's in Goa since 1993 where he architected the setting up of Aparant Iron & Steel Plant in Goa and continued to serve as its Managing Director till retirement. He continues to be an Independent Director in the company.
